Tracey Cooper is a veteran of the Baltimore scene who returns to Nordic Trax with a stacked ep of housey goodness. Tracey turned a few heads with his label debut in 2021, and the prolific producer ups his game on the six-track Visions Of Joy ep. Dedicated to his wife, the beautifully-crafted release incorporates elements of jazz, funk, jackin’ house & deep techno into the tracks.

Kicking off with the driving rhythms of Pathway, the ep storms forward with Tracey pushing sonic boundaries in a few directions. The uplifting deep house grooves of Banditt, Under The Sun and the title track take things into the territory of late night loft parties, while the heavier elements of Topic & Pathway would be equally at home in Detroit or Berlin. On the infectious Gentrified a stand-up bass line walks along jackin’ mpc beats with outstanding results – Tracey’s music has range.

Tracey Cooper modestly describes himself “as just a cat from Baltimore who makes tracks” and he first came on the scene with Brothers and Sisters EP on James Curd’s Greenskeepers back in 2005. He followed that up with an impressive run of releases for Sampled Detroit, Blockhead, Phobic, Delve Deeper, Greenhouse, Open Sound and eventually NT.

Tracey made his label debut with Following Your Light (NT113, 2021), which is a favourite of NT boss Luke McKeehan, who featured it in many of his sets. The release found widespread support, including Mark Farina, Diz, DJ Heather, Fish Go Deep, Gene Farris, Nick Holder, Datakestra, Sumsuch, Victor Soriano & Jon Freer to name a few.
